In 1860 Don Domingo Marticorena arrived from Navarra, Spain and founded the first liquor and soda factory in Argentina and is believed to be one of the first in South America.
Located on 25 de Mayo Street, across from the "Hotel del Globo," the factory was sold to Don Emilio Billat, also from the Basque Country.
On May 1, 1866, he sold it to the brothers Andrés and Pedro Inchauspe from Navarre.
In 1868, the Inchauspe brothers merged their factory with that of their brother Juan Inchauspe and moved to Moreno and Defensa Streets
in the San Telmo neighborhood. They then acquired land on Venezuela Street between Balcarce and Defensa Streets.
This was in 1869; the yellow fever epidemic delayed construction until 1872. In 1886, the factory moved to Independencia 456–472.
In 1904, construction began on the building at San Juan 2850, named "La Argentina."
Until the 1930s, soda water was purchased by families at grocery stores and bars; then home deliveries began using horse-drawn carts.
“Four generations recreating and innovating family recipes. We use top-quality raw materials, many of which are harvested in the foothills of the Andes in San Juan.”
